The Step-by-Step Process for Creating Custom Cast Plaques
Curious about what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to creating cast plaques? Our high precision casting process is one we at A.R.K. Ramos have been perfecting over the last couple of decades.
Before we dive into our process, you should know that cast plaques are a timeless way to honor, commemorate, or inform when it comes to building signage or stand alone memorials. They are crafted through a meticulous casting process where molten meta,l like bronze or aluminum, is poured into custom molds, capturing intricate details with stunning precision. The result is a durable, elegant cast plaque perfect for memorials, dedications, or signage; built to stand the test of time in any setting. It’s a process that takes years to perfect, and we’ve done just that!
If you’ve decided to use our foundry services and purchase a cast plaque or two, here is the process you can expect your custom signage to move through.
1 - Design Creation
After your project is confirmed, we get started by creating a design that reflects the needs of your piece. From text to logos to artwork, we make sure every detail is accounted for and laid out well.
2 - Mold Preparation
The design is then used to make a pattern, often crafted from wood, that then serves as the template for the mold. The mold is crafted to capture the intricate details of the design, ensuring precision in the final casting.
3 - Metal Casting
Molten metal, such as bronze, aluminum or brass, is poured into the mold. Before becoming cast metal, the molten metal is incredibly fluid, flowing to every part of the mold and capturing the fine details of the design.
4 - Cooling & Removal
Once the metal solidifies, the mold is carefully broken away, revealing the rough casting. The cast metal plaque design is visible, but still quite rough around the edges and needs human touch and a bit of elbow grease.
5 - Finishing
After removal, the cast plaque is cleaned and polished. Any additional details that need extra refining are addressed at this point. Depending on your project, we’ll also add additional coatings at this step.
6 - Inspection
Before it is cleared for shipping, each cast plaque undergoes a thorough inspection to ensure the quality of your project! We’ll refer back to your original project specs to ensure we’ve exceeded your expectations.
7 - Shipping & Mounting
Now, it’s time to ship! We ship all of our products worldwide. Each product comes with a mounting template that identifies the stud locations on each piece so that your installation is efficient and clean.
